WHO hiring: Communication Officer in Amman, Jordan.
To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to implement WHO country cooperation strategies that are aligned with Member State’s health priorities, sustainable development agendas and harmonized with the United Nations country teams and partners to improve health outcomes and progress towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.
Essential: University degree in communications, or social sciences behavioural sciences, development sciences, public health or related area.
Desirable: Training in public health, health education, health communication, or health promotion.
Essential: At least one year of related experience at the national level in media, information and communications. Demonstrated experience in production of communications and social media materials.
Desirable: Experience in implementation of media and communications projects, including the development of audio and visual materials and tools. Prior working experience in WHO, the UN, recognized humanitarian organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills complemented by the ability to conceptualize ideas and promote consensus.
- Ability to work under pressure while producing results.
- Knowledge or sound understanding of the health communications and familiarity with other relevant communications fields such as Risk and Crisis Communications, as well as Social Mobilization.
- Ability to “think out of the box” and to recommend proposals as related to communication.
- Tact, discretion and diplomacy.
- Excellent presentation skills with proven ability to write in English in a clear and concise manner.

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at JOD 27,655 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
